Fireworks After Ryan Zimmerman’s Walk-Off, Game Winning, HOLY F’n WOW, Curly-W Earning Home Run!  Taken by Joy, who always takes great photos

Ask a Bills fan if there are such a things and Omens in sports… Whether a kick wide-right will haunt you and your sport forever. Whether that type of psychic trauma lingers through teams for years and years and years.

And then watch Ryan Zimmerman put one over the fence to win the game, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, and think about what that might do for a team. Imagine the precedent set by a moment like this in a brand new ballpark and ask yourself- Did that Nationals just change their luck forever? Is this what a winner look like?

In the first inning with a runner on third and no outs it seemed like “New Place, Same Nats” as they racked up two outs without trying. Two doubles, and two runs later, the Nationals gave the first clue that this team might be a bit different then those of these three years past. Paul La Duca (”Seriously, Dude-Next Catcher”) who already seems to air of “shitty catcher” around him (a New National technically, but he plays like an old National) not with standing, this team played pretty damn well. Rauch and the boys had the game wrapped up before the ball got past Paulie (because he’s still playing last years Nationals baseball) but thankfully one crappy catcher does not a loser make.

Especially when Ryan “This is my fourth Game Winning Homer” Zimmerman gets his swing on. (Ladies, he frequents McFaddens from what I understand…This, by the way, is what you want your 3B to say-especially as he’s coming up on first and you can read his lips…”Fuck Yeah” indeed!)

This is all tea-leaves and astrology-I’m just making shit up and hoping for the best, I know. The Nationals will probably tumble for a while this year and .500 will be a good year. But it is nice to think that this will be the beginning of something great. If nothing else, Baseball is here.

Play ball!

The Post called it A Storybook Ending.

This guy hated how the stadium is laid out (no really-it only takes him about two pages to come out and say what he means-Go Get ‘Em Mr. Tony!).
