ABOUT ThE AUTHOR: As
the quickest of introductions, the author is an attorney recently
graduated from school, admitted to the New York State Bar, and
lives in (read just outside of) Washington D.C. He likes Copyright
and Trademark law the best. The author is Extremely tired
of filling out profiles, and refers you to both his
MYSPACE and
FRIENDSTER pages.
It is the author's opinion that since his friends insisted he
fill these things out, and moderately keep up with them, then they shall
be put to good use here.
ABOUT THE COMIC:
The comic strip "The
Soft Lounge" began out of my desire to keep sane in the context of law
school. Every Spring the George
Washington University Law School puts on the "GW
Law Revue" which the author describes as "SNL meets Law School."
As a first year (or 1L) the author participated in the acting and
producing of the show, as well as some of the joke writing. The
author refers to those parts of the show as "Good SNL meets Law School."
As the second year (2L) began, the author found that he missed the
therapeutic qualities of working out his aggression towards law school
on stage. If only there was a way to continue that ranting,
perhaps even be a bit more direct than he had the chance to be on stage.
The author's love of comics in general, combined with the fact that the
The Nota Bene, the
schools biweekly newspaper, didn't have a comic strip afforded an
opportunity. Initially the author's voice and art skills were lacking.
By the second issue though, at least he had found his voice again.
The strip ran fairly consistently for the next two years, depending how
drunk the author or his editors were, much to the delight of the student
body in general. "The Soft Lounge" was consistently the one part
of the newspaper that students would not line their birdcages with, or
wipe their own arses with. This may be due to the size of the
strip, but the author is not complaining. |
